Leederville Connect is proud to announce the return of their free, all-ages annual celebration that showcases the unique lifestyle of Leederville in a giant street festival. Thanks to our major sponsor the City of Vincent, the 2015 Light Up Leederville Carnival presented by Alcohol.Think Again. will take over the Leederville Town Centre on Sunday 6 December from 12pm with an extended closing time of 9pm.
The inaugural 2012 Carnival attracted 24,000 people, and with increasing popularity of the event year on year the attendance numbers grew to 80,000 people in 2014. The community celebration envelopes the heart of the Leederville strip offering visitors the chance to indulge in food, live art, outdoor restaurants, cafes, pop-up bars, market stalls, family attractions and rides, live music across various entertainment stages, art installations and roving performers.
Artist applications are open for the 2015 Light Up Leederville Carnival presented by Alcohol.Think Again. The Carnival invites local musicians, producers, street performers and visual artists to apply to perform at this year’s Carnival. The popular double-decker Carnival Bus Stage will return as the main entertainment hub at the corner of Oxford and Newcastle Streets, which will be the centre stage for the ‘lighting up’ ceremony as night falls (with the street party running to 9pm this year).
Interested applicants are urged to submit information including Intera Band/Artist bio (150 words or less); high resolution photographs (at least two, min. resolution 1MB); online links to some previous performances; a stage plot of your act. Applications should be sent via email to email@example.com and close on Monday 22 September, 2015. Successful acts will be notified by Wednesday 7 October.
Leederville Connect acknowledges the generous support of the Department of Culture and the Arts to help make live, local original music possible at this year’s Carnival. We thank the City of Vincent for once again being the major sponsor, and forproviding in-kind support, such as health and waste services for the event.
The program and map for the 2015 Light Up Leederville Carnival presented by Alcohol.Think Again. will be released in early November. This year will see a particular focus on art, health and sustainability and local Leederville traders.
